Care in the Pharmacy

pills_for_girlAs part of our continued development in helping patients access NHS services that are appropriate to their needs, we are now promoting The Care in the Pharmacy Scheme.

Working together with your local pharmacy you can now obtain treatment and advice for many minor ailments that in the past you usually visited your doctor for.

When you use this service the pharmacist will consult with you about your ailment. After filling out a consultation form he/she will give you advice and guidance on your ailment and supply you with medicines when appropriate.

Minor Ailments covered by the scheme:-

  • Athletes foot
  • Common cold
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Constipation
  • Cough
  • Diarrhoea
  • Earache
  • Hayfever
  • Headache
  • Head Lice
  • Heartburn
  • Indigestion
  • Sore Throat
  • Threadworm
  • Tummy upset
  • Vaginal Thrush
  • Warts
  • Verrucas

Please be aware that in certain circumstances the pharmacist may refer you back to your GP instead of supplying medicine if he/she feels it is necessary

If you receive free prescriptions the medicines supplied will also be free of charge.

If you do not receive free prescriptions and the medicine you require is included in the Care in The Pharmacy scheme you will be charged the usual prescription fee.
