Just Found Out You’re Pregnant? You do not need to contact your GP
If you have had a positive pregnancy test, you do not need to notify the GP practice and you do not need us to confirm your pregnancy.
You can book your maternity care directly with Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as soon as you find out you are pregnant.
Book your midwife appointment here:
https://www.lancsteachinghospitals.nhs.uk/pregnancy-self-referral
As soon as you submit the form:
- The maternity booking team will arrange your first booking appointment
- Your GP will be notified automatically by the hospital
- You will be offered your early screening tests
Your first (booking) appointment usually takes place between 9–13 weeks of pregnancy. It is routine practice for women to be seen alone for the first part of the appointment. You are welcome to bring your partner or someone else for support.
We encourage you to self-refer as early as possible so that your care and screening can be arranged without delay.
